The Praktica LB of 1972 has one advantage over the Praktica L; as in the Pentacon tradition the "B" denotes the incorporation of an external selenium exposure meter. Unlike the previous models, the LB has its meter sensor below the rewind knob rather than on the name plate in front of the prism housing, and that brought about a slight increase in the height of the top plate on the left hand side of the body.
Reflex camera with built-in exposure meter. Contrary to classic usage of manual exposure meters, the PRAKTICA LB provides for light metering without any additional device. The exposure meter comprising the selenium photoelectric cell and a metering component is accommodated in the left side of the camera without making the PRAKTICA LB larger or noticeably heavier. Simply and rapidly, the correct exposure time is determined, and this offers the beginning as well as the advanced photographer further ease in operating the camera. |
