New in a camera: Electric diaphragm control
For the first time, in the PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC, the diaphragm values are transmitted to the camera electrically. Thus, the transmission is without inertia and without friction. The newly developed electric structural elements make the modern method of TTL light metering safer and simpler still. Focusing and metering are performed through the objective at full aperture, i.e. with the finder image at maximum brightness. The diaphragm closes automatically the moment the shutter is released. |

Centre metering with beam splitter and light concentrator in perfect conformity with subject
With the greater majority of subjects, the important pictorial section is in the centre of the image field. This has been taken into account by the PENTACON TTL system. In accordance with the subject, the measuring field is arranged in the centre, without having to be especially indicated in the reflex viewfinder. It is large enough to include all the details of importance to the picture. The subordinate marginal areas which might influence the reading are photometrically left aside. This system in the PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC increases reliability in picture taking. PENTACON TTL structural elements like the beam splitter and the light concentrator, approved a thousand times over, form the basic principle of this uniquely accurate metering system. |

A genuine single-lens reflex with a new focal-plane shutter
Decades of experience in the construction of focal-plane shutters - more than one million PRAKTICA models alone with their superb focal-plane shutter have hitherto been produced - have led up to the completely new leaf-type focal-plane shutter of the PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC. The shutter blades move with greater speed and less noise and are progressively attenuated. Speed settings are from 1/1000 sec. to 1 sec. |

PL automatic film loading
Film loading is, of course, also quick and easy. Using the PL System, you simply place the film leader up to the marking point, close the camera back, and the camera is ready for picture taking. Any type of commercially available35mm perforated film may be used. |

 |
Flash work easier still
The PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC has only one synchro switch. You do not have to change over from one contact to another for flash bulbs and electronic flash. When attached to the accessory shoe, flash units and flashcube adapters of every kind are automatically connected by the direct contact. The shortest exposure speed for electronic flash is 1/125 sec. |
|
|
Oblique shutter release for multi-stage operation
As in all PRAKTICA models, the shutter release is designed and arranged for convenient handling. In the PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC it has two additional functions to fulfil:
Initial stroke - light metering
Mid-position of stroke - pressure point
End stroke - release of shutter
The measuring circuit of the TTL system is interrupted as long as the shutter release is not depressed. The pressure point gives warning of subsequent release. Convenient positioning of the operating controls and a decrease in manipulations simplify and speed up the performance of the PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC. You feel at ease in concentrating on your subject. |

Film track ensures accurate positioning of film
The excellent plane position of the film in the PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC makes it possible to use ultra-fast lenses. The film lies perfectly flat in a film track formed by extra long guide ribs and an equally long film pressure plate. |

Interchangeable lenses
The complete range of ORIGINAL PRAKTICA lenses, high performance optics from PENTACON and from Jena, with focal lengths from 20 mm to 1000 mm, are available also for the PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC. Also, the lens program of the world market includes more than 350 lenses featuring the M 42 X l international PRAKTICA screw thread. The lenses are easily interchangeable. No special attention regarding position between camera and lens is required. By means of a power reserve incorporated in the camera, the automatic pressure diaphragm is converted into the higher grade automatic spring diaphragm. |
Specification of lenses
APD = Automatic pressure diaphragm (in conjuction with the PRAKTICA LLC the automatic pressure diaphragm is converted into the higher grade automatic spring diaphragm) PD = Pre-set diaphragm
The lenses hitherto listed by Kombinat VEB PENTACON DRESDEN, Feinoptisches Werk Goerlitz, under the trade name MEYER OPTIK now bear the trade mark PENTACON.
For a wider range of interchangeable lenses, please see the M42 lens list. |

Accessories
The PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC is the ideal camera for all kinds of specialized photographic tasks. It is extremely simple to connect the various supplementary parts to the camera and also to operate the combined equipment.
Electric diaphragm control simplifies close-up work
|

Intermediate Rings, 12.5 mm and 25 mm, for close-up and ultra-close-up work. |
Also when using intermediate rings and close-up bellows attachments, the diaphragm values are transmitted electrically. The intermediate rings of the PENTACON PRAKTICA LLC have contact paths, and for the close-up bellows attachments the electric diaphragm control is effected by means of a pair of intermediate rings with cable and plug. Thus, the finder image remains bright for focusing and light metering, even if you wish to stop down to a very small aperture. Here too, you have the advantage of PENTACON TTL metering, since all exposure factors resulting from the use of intermediate rings, close-up bellows, and filters are automatically taken into account. The image angle is always the metering angle, and only the light actually needed for composing the picture is measured. |

Pair of Intermediate Rings, each ring 12.5 mm, with cable and plug, also cable release connection, for use in conjunction with close-up bellows attachment. |

Miniature Bellows Attachment for close-up and macro work with continuous variability of the picture ratio. Extension of bellows from 35 mm to 125 mm. |

Close-up Bellows Attachment for close-up and macro work with continuous variability of the picture ratio. Extension of bellows from 35 mm to 220 mm. |

Reversing Ring for use in macro photography when the scale of reproduction exceeds 1.5 times and the lens is connected by its filter thread. |

Angle Finder for viewing the finder Image at right angles to the taking direction when making exposures close to ground level. |

Focusing Telescope gives an extra 2.7-fold magnification of a section of the finder image and thus considerably Increases focusing accuracy. |

Rubber Eye Cup with Mount for Correcting Lens keeps extraneous light away from the ocular.
Spectacle wearers may have a correcting lens inserted.
|

Microscope Attachment Piece for connecting the camera to a microscope. |

Special Cable Release to keep the shutter open for any length of time at the B setting without constant finger pressure. |

Copying Stand with Lighting Equipment for photographing flat objects. Adjustable lamps give an even Illumination. |

Transparency Copying Attachment, a supplement to the close-up bellows attachment for making slides from block-and-white or colour negatives and intermediate negatives from reversal slides. |

Carrying Strap for the camera without everready case. |

Focusing Slide for accurate, quick focusing in close-up and macro work. |

Universal Tripod permits ail-direction pan and tilt movement and keeps the camera perfectly steady for long time exposures. |

Everready Case to protect the camera against shock and dirt. |
